Role Overview:

AGA is currently seeking a full-time Director to be based in our Jakarta office. The Director will be expected to oversee and manage client service within our Indonesia portfolio, and will represent the firm in high-level external engagements as our Indonesian Country Representative.

The candidate we are seeking will have extensive experience in government relations or government as well as strong networks within key government agencies and the foreign business community. The candidate should have recognized expertise in Indonesia’s political economy and familiarity with policy issues in leading industrial and service sectors. S/he must also have strong project management skills and be experienced in mentoring junior consultants. The ideal candidate should have a postgraduate degree in business, economics, international relations, or a related field.

Responsibilities include:

  • Driving strategy and implementation for all projects with existing and future clients in Indonesia.
  • Structuring and proposing solutions for client challenges and issues.
  • Maintaining and managing client relationships to ensure client satisfaction.

  • Leading business development and outreach activities in Indonesia.

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Fifteen or more years of progressive experience in government relations, corporate affairs and/or government in Indonesia.
  • Strong network within government and business stakeholders, coupled with an in-depth understanding of the investment and policy climate in Indonesia.
  • Excellent interpersonal negotiation and communication skills, especially among high-level international business executives and government decision-makers.
  • Written fluency in policy, political economic and issue analysis in Indonesia for a business audience.
  • Distinctive English and Indonesian skills, both written and oral.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing and mentoring a team.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to constantly changing priorities.
  • A dynamic, self-starter and autonomous attitude.

We are seeking a Vietnamese and English-speaking candidate with a strong understanding of Vietnam’s business, politics, and economics. Candidates experienced in government relations, corporate affairs and/or strategic communications consulting will be prioritized.

The candidate must have strong research and writing skills, and be able to produce concise briefings on economic, political, and legal developments. The ideal candidate would possess a Master’s degree in business, economics, international relations, or related field.

Working as an Analyst in AGA provides a rewarding opportunity to work in the dynamic space between Asia’s governments, businesses, and civil society organizations. Our Analysts play critical roles in a growing firm providing solutions to some of the world’s largest and most respected companies and organizations.


Responsibilities include:

  • Drafting memos, briefings, presentations, and reports for clients.
  • Conducting media monitoring and analysis.
  • Conducting research on specific regulations, legislation, and policies.
  • Attending meetings and preparing meeting notes for internal and external distribution.
  • Working on special projects as needed and as assigned.
  • Assisting in website and social media content management.
  • Supporting additional operational and administrative activities as required.
